Actors on the course will take part in an array of Acting classes, workshops, meetings, Q and As over the 3 days. All guests and tutors will be brought onto site and we aim to organise a really diverse collection of classes to stimulate and inspire!

Accommodation is included in the course fees (with shared or single occupancy available) and all Meals on site will be provided. (The team on site will be able to accommodate any dietary requirements)  

Each day will be designed to provide a variation of classes and the opportunity to work with every Acting coach and Guest Tutor on the course. We aim to start each day as a larger group and then split into smaller groups for some classes. We hope to inspire, challenge, and empower you throughout the weekend… whilst ensuring you have a fantastic time and experience!

In the evenings,  our team will help with selftape requests, and allow you to unwind on site in the beautiful grounds. The team at Mark Jermin will also provide social activity, team bonding and entertainment for all (This is completely optional to join in is as much as you like)

Our Adult actors Weekender 2024 will begin in St Teresa’s in Surrey with training and classes but will complete its “final take” in Central London (heart of the West end and media city!) a bit like what we hope for you and your career… you start with us by training but then fully flourish in a professional industry setting!

The course will begin at St Teresa’s with training and classes to all actors from Friday 2nd August. 

Guests will reside for 2 x nights (Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd August) partaking in all masterclasses, training and experiences organised on site. 

On the final day (Sunday 4th August) following a mini performance and round up of the weekend at St Teresa’s, Actors on this course will be transported (all included) via coach into Central London and treated to a matinee performance or industry workshop experience  (The chosen performance or class is to be confirmed dependent on numbers but information will be given to all committed enrolled students of the course)

The performance or additional class on the Sunday will be included in the course fees (no additional extras)

The Sunday 4th August Central London class / performance is likely to officially complete at the end of this performance or workshop experience at 4.30pm / 5pm. But team MJ are hoping to book an area in London town should Actors wish to “keep going” and continue networking / socialising in London if you fancied “making another night of it” in town.  

Actors are then free to make their own way home (from Central London) as we thought this may make it easier for Actors travelling further distances.

Guests who have cars can either drive into Central London on Sunday and then make their way hoe directly from there or you are free to leave your vehicle on site at st Teresa’s and can collect their vehicles on Sunday evening or Monday. Anyone leaving their vehicle at St Teresa’s will have to make their own travel arrangements back to Effingham when convenient for you.

All actors will need to provide and organise their own travel arrangements to St Teresa’s. The finale of the course will complete in Central London. (We have planned this as thought this may be easier for many actors who will be travelling via public transport,As part of thActing course, we are hoping to produce an Actor’s showcase for any students wanting to participate in. This showcase will be watched by the agents at Mark Jermin and at least another 2 agencies with a Welsh base (who both have London offices too) We are hoping that writers, screen writers and our other contacts from productions within Wales will also attend (a long list of our contacts have been invited).

For any actors who are currently unrepresented (don’t have an Agent) the showcase could be a great way of obtaining one, as well as getting some in the room live performance experience. 

The showcase is an opportunity for you to perform one of the following:

• A monologue – showcasing YOU. This can be ANY Piece,  performed in any style, any genre, any accent, but just a piece that encompasses you and shows what you can do.

OR

• A duologue – with another Actor on the course. This can be from any play or screenplay or could even be written by yourselves. We advise you to keep to it simple in its staging with a few chairs / table and personal props if you need any of these to aid the scene.

There is ample complimentary parking for anyone who wishes to bring and leave their car on site. 

For public transport, the nearest train stations include: Dorking , Effingham and Leatherhead. From each train station mentioned, there is then a 10 minute car journey and there are reputable taxi companies within the area to make that short journey. (We advise or can put students travelling to the same train stations in touch with each other to share this if needed)

It is entirely up to you! Students are encouraged to be themselves and wear whatever they like. 

We do however encourage Students and would want every student to be in appropriate attire that they can move freely in with suitable footwear. This could be any form of loose joggers, leggings and accompanying t-shirts, vests, sweaters etc. Flat footwear or non-slip trainers would be best.

More information of the classes, the workshops and Guests who will be brought onto site will be given to enrolled students who have paid and committed to the course sooner to the start date. This information will be emailed out with timings of the course, and with anything specific you may need to prepare or bring. 

• The team at MJSS will be following all Health and Safety rulings within the venue’s policies and following the protocol in place to ensure that students are always kept safe when in our care.
• A full list of rules and Health and Safety guidelines will be delivered on day one of the course.
• If any student feels unsafe or unwell during the course, please inform a staff member who has a duty of care. No medical treatment will be given without consent.
• Mark Jermin are also currently monitoring the Government advice daily to ensure that all rules and assistance in keeping all students and staff safe in terms of Covid Safety are also followed as part of the course.
• We recommend prior to attending the course that all staff and students take a lateral flow test to ensure they are Covid free.
• Each Student will have access to all MJ staff members for the week as their “go to persons” mentors, helpers, and chaperones.
• Our team are very experienced in looking after students. Should any student be unhappy or have any issue no matter how big or small during the week, they must feel like they can speak any staff member who will do all they can to rectify and aid any situation. Further matters and issues can be taken to Senior Staff members and any parental queries or issues can also be put in writing if needed.
• If anyone is to have any injuries or accidents whilst on site, our team will be hands on to deal and help with this. All medical conditions of Students that have been mentioned as previously requested have been noted and recorded.
